The eighth architecture festival recorded over 8,100 visits

13/10/2026

From October 9 to 11, the eighth Open House Tallinn took place, offering architecture and urban space enthusiasts over 360 free tours. In total, there were over 8,100 visits.

This year, the most popular buildings were the Estonian Academy of Sciences, the Former Seppo Clinic Building, the Dominican Monastery Museum, and Hopner House. There was also great interest in the Vana-Lõuna Tram Depot and the National Library of Estonia, set to open next year.

According to the festival producer Aleksander Tali, the interest in some of the buildings was even unexpected: “Seeing such immense curiosity about urban space and architecture brings pure joy – this year’s festival attracted significantly more visitors to certain buildings than anticipated, and unfortunately, not everyone interested could fit on the tours. We thank everyone for their understanding and our volunteers for their immense contribution! Many restrictions were in place according to prior agreements and safety regulations. To ensure the best possible experience and account for the capacity of each building, we will take this year’s lessons with us and already make new plans for the next edition.”

Festival facts:
8,102 visits
165 volunteers
378 tours over three days
183 tours filled to at least 95% capacity
740 people responded to a flash survey during the festival, 60% of whom were returning festival fans.
Moving between different buildings was done most frequently on foot and by public transport.
