In the Pelgulinn district, on Ristiku Street (formerly Oskari Street), there is a building known as Ristiku Primary School. Designed by Tallinn’s chief architect Herbert Voldemar Johanson in 1927 and completed in 1929, the school building was soon acclaimed as the most modern and beautiful school building in Tallinn. It’s noteworthy that the ornamental pattern of the corridors in Ristiku Primary School bears a resemblance to that of the Estonian Parliament building, as architect Johanson was also the author of the Parliament building’s design. The building’s façades combine romantic Jugendstil elements with bourgeois representativeness, reflected in its overall mass and high gabled roof. Inside, notable features include lattice motifs on staircases and coat storage, column capitals, and the coffered ceiling of the hall.

The school building has housed several schools over time, and currently, Ristiku Primary School accommodates around 280 students, all of whom hold great appreciation and affection for their school.

During the guided tours, participants will get acquainted with both the venerable building itself and the community-oriented activities of the school. The tours will be led by the closely connected Chief Financial Officer Jürgo Nooni.
