Before World War II, the community house was the center of social life in Kopli. The building was completed in 1937 according to the design of Elmar Lohk, and it was erected on the site of a house that had been destroyed by fire three years earlier. The building is mostly three stories high and, in its original layout, consisted of a smaller and larger multi-purpose hall, a gymnasium, and various auxiliary rooms. The largest hall, with 374 seats, was used as a theater and ballroom. In addition to theater performances, film screenings and evening parties were also held there.

The building, designed in a proto-traditionalist style, is decorated with several artistic details — a female figure designed by Rudolf Saaring-Sõrmus and ornaments with national motifs. Inside, one could find granite busts of State Elder Konstantin Päts and Minister of Economy Karl Selter, both of whom had supported the construction of the community house.

In addition to the community house, a library, a sauna, a church, and a department store were also planned to be built along the alley leading toward the main building of Tallinn University of Technology. After the war, the community house was used by the military and became known as the Sailors’ Club. Today, the building belongs to the Põhja-Tallinn district administration, is in need of full renovation, and awaits its future. Since 2019, it has served as a community center, whose heart is an active local community, a shared garden, and a repair workshop.
