Located at Narva maantee 28 is an impressive two-story, unrendered limestone building in the Neo-Romanesque style, constructed in 1903 according to the design of architect Nikolai Thamm the younger. The building slightly recedes from the street line, and its distinctive features include a dominant staircase tower and two projecting bays that articulate the main façade. Originally, the building was designed to accommodate two large and luxurious apartments, each on a separate floor. In addition to spacious ballrooms and dining rooms, each apartment also had a separate room designated for a governess or nanny. The living quarters for coachmen and caretakers were situated in a stone outbuilding, which also included a stable and carriage shed. Over time, the main building has served various purposes, including being a dormitory, a rescue committee’s office, and a private school, resulting in changes to the interior layout and function. However, the exterior appearance of the building has remained intact. Since 1958 and continuing to this day, the premises have been home to Tallinn Children’s Music School, where over 70 classes of students have received musical education.
