OHT 2024 Reflections: How Do Visitors See Us?

03/06/2025

As Open House Tallinn 2025 is already on the horizon, it’s the perfect moment to look back at last year’s results. In 2024, we received feedback from 290 participants – and their responses confirm what we hoped for: Open House Tallinn continues to make an impact as an architecture event.

A broadened cityscape and new perspectives
One of the core goals of Open House is to bring people closer to their city – and this goal was once again achieved. 95.5% of respondents said they learned something new about Tallinn. Three out of four said their perception of the city or a specific district changed. 62.9% visited an area they had never been to before

Each walk, guided tour, and open door becomes a chance to see the capital from a new angle – and many participants made the most of that opportunity.

More knowledgeable, aware, and engaged
The festival doesn’t just open doors – it opens minds. According to our visitors: 79.9% now feel better equipped to discuss architecture and urban space, eight out of ten feel more informed about urban and building-related challenges, 83.3% appreciate how well-designed urban space improves quality of life, 73.6% now better understand how physical space impacts our daily lives

These insights don’t fade after the weekend – they stay with us, shaping how we think, act, and make decisions moving forward.

Strengthening the bond between Tallinn and its people
We’re especially happy to see that Open House Tallinn strengthens the connection between the city and its residents. Among those for whom the question applied, 80.9% said they felt proud to be a resident of Tallinn while attending the festival.

What does all this tell us?
Open House Tallinn is not just an architecture festival. It’s a dialogue between people and the city – one held through windows, doors, and shared experiences. It’s a chance to learn, explore, reflect – and to feel like you’re part of something bigger.
