TalTech Construction Mountain House, completed in early 2021, stands as the most energy-efficient and well-climated educational and research building within the TalTech campus. This fully nearly-zero-energy building houses testing halls, water technology, building physics, and indoor climate laboratories. The facility offers students the opportunity to receive top-notch engineering education, and researchers can conduct experiments that contribute to the development of increasingly crucial energy-efficient solutions worldwide. The building generates solar energy across its entire roof surface, and to reduce its carbon footprint, both load-bearing and non-load-bearing wooden structures have been extensively used.

The interior design and finishing of the building reflect its unique concept as a wooden structure and a demonstrative educational tool. Wood has been employed and showcased in various functions and forms, both as a construction material and for partitions, doors, floors, and ceiling finishes. A notable portion of the furniture is also crafted from wood. This innovative design and sustainable approach make TalTech’s Construction Mountain House a model for modern energy-efficient and environmentally conscious architecture.
